Louden Swain warms up to “Lunatic Fringe” before taking on Shute. In the original 1979 novel by Terry Davis, the story ends right after Louden runs out and the whistle blows. We never learn the outcome of the match. Win or lose, Louden had accomplished what he set out to do and faced his challenge. #VisionQuest

Long snappers,
I received a text from a snapper I coach about how to handle nerves before a game.
I’ll tell you this, I had nerves the night before every NFL game. It’s easy to have nerves when you sit in your thoughts. You begin to overthink.
What helped me a lot was going over notes from the week, visualization of execution, journaling and getting out of my hotel room.
Find a healthy routine that can help ease your mind and instill confidence 🤟
Bye week work with @Raiders long snapper @JacobBobenmoyer
Always room to improve. If you’re not getting better, you’re getting worse. Don’t let anyone ever tell you to lower your standard. 🙌🏻
Jacob and I have been working together since his Junior year in college and his growth has been crazy. He’s bought in and been consistent which is why he’s in year 6 in the NFL.
We focused on helping him lock in on a few small details to keep him efficient through a long season. Length is something that falls apart quickly if you aren’t paying attention to it. Jacob had condensed his movement a little but wasn’t sure why. We figured out that he got “comfortable” which caused him to lose some elongation of his spine, the ball crept under his head and was causing him to push the ball through more than accelerate it from length. We also noticed that because of this he built a tendency to tense his shoulders in order to TRY and create more power in the snap.
Once we got him longer and looser he was snapping much better again! Like riding a bike.
The tough part for most athletes is they don’t know they are slipping until something bad happens. Jacob didn’t feel right and knew his snap didn’t look like it should, so he made the trip and was proactive. He now KNOWS exactly what his issues are and has drills to put into the mix to help him to continue to refine so he can make snapping a reflex.
I’m looking forward to continuing to help Jacob have a long career at the highest level!
Always chase perfection. 💪🏻
