Exclusive:
Lawmakers from several political groups in the European Parliament have sent a letter to the European Commission calling for new laws to protect video games that people have paid for.
The main quote: βWhen nearly 1.3 million EU citizens are calling on the European Union to take action, it is our obligation to listen and to act. We cannot ignore this overwhelming call to action.
The plenary debate a few weeks ago sent a clear signal: This Citizen Initiative has broad cross-party support in the European Parliament. When consumers pay for a game, they invest more than just money.
They spend their time on it, make memories, develop passions and make real friends for life along the way. It is indefensible that publishers should have the right to simply pull the plug on these games at any time, and destroy cultural heritage in the process. With this letter, we reiterate our position: Itβs Game Over for this abusive practice.β
The MEPs argue that companies should not be able to make paid games unusable after ending support through server shutdowns, forced updates, or other changes.
They make it clear that this is not about forcing publishers to keep servers running forever or provide endless updates. Instead, they want laws that ensure people can still access and play the games they bought, even after official support ends. They also encourage solutions such as private servers or peer-to-peer options when possible.
Signed by dozens of MEPs from across the political spectrum, the letter increases pressure on the European Commission to propose actual legislation protecting consumers and preserving access to purchased games.
At this point, it's not even about whether or not in-game female characters are sexually attractive or not. It's about if they appeal to the audiences they target. Making them ugly sends the message that they themselves don't aspire to be better than the reality we escape from. They're only interested in mediocre, so why bother investing in them and their worlds?
Of all the games that were showcased, I'm excited for @EXODUSGame now. I appreciate the choice-consequence framework that I used to enjoy from Suikoden and Mass Effect. I would love for them to focus hard on this aspect and bring us lots of good stories.
If @AmazonMGMStudio got @Mattel to make a HR Skeletor and proceeds to pay for the @mastersmovie flick they would be home free, cost of the film right there in sales. ππ π―
But seriously I would buy this in a heartbeat π THIS WOULD BE EPIC!!!

Shift Up CEO Kim Hyung Tae says they intentionally made Evie shorter and look a bit younger in Stellar Blade Blood Rain
"We intentionally set Evie to be shorter and look a bit younger, but we worked to ensure she fights in a very tough manner and exudes a cool, stylish character presence.
When making the first game, I struggled with the character EVE β specifically, whether to leave the character as a blank slate for player empathy or to fill her with personality. Seeing the reactions of players who finished the first game, I realized that players can fully immerse themselves even in a character with a strong, distinct personality. So, this time, we are designing Evie to have an even more defined character.
For combat, I thought it would be very appealing to have a small-statured character engage in intense CQC. I felt that using the same weapons from the previous game would make it difficult to show something entirely new, so we chose a new approach to CQC. However, various weapons, including the reverse-blade sword, will be expanded for logical reasons within the context, and the range of player options will be much wider."
