@Bombers_Boss@NFTgip Exactly we were only in the top 4 because we were winning matches against bottom 10 side during that run, the fact that we didn't comprehensively beat any of those teams should've been enough of an indicator to suggest that we weren't a genuine top 4 side.
@AnkushGoyal24@ScooterMcNeice I'd rather us take the hit and be in the bottom 4 for a few years and at least have a high probability of picking up an elite talent through the draft than be stuck in perpetual mediocrity.
@AnkushGoyal24@ScooterMcNeice Also whilst a minor step, getting rid of Stringer is the right choice, but yes we should be more bold and get more currency.
@darthbater19@essendonfc Well look at it this way, we need to develop the youngsters currently on the list not to mention maximise the next few drafts before Tassie enters and raids the league. We are not even close to being in a premiership window rn, so best to offload Stringer now.
@ScooterMcNeice Shanahan and Caddy would just about shore up our forward line for the next 10 years, tall forwards of that quality don't grow on trees.
@Bombers_Boss Prior is the only one out of that lot I would consider, the rest should be out of consideration if we're trying to build a serious team for the future.
@Tristan82350174@absoessendon@joshthorp23 Because he was pissed away in defence and I'll admit I was critical of Massimo too but in hindsight we should've tested him on the wing before letting him go to the Hawks. Kudos to Mitchell for being able to utilise him correctly.
@EthNick_ Also getting rid of Dodoro who oversaw a mostly bad period of recruiting for 25 years is a massive step in the right direction as a club as he is one of those types who was well protected by the old Essendon coteries.
@EthNick_ How many of those years did we make the finals? One. As for winning one, none. But besides the point, the whole getting the old boys back at Essendon whilst seemingly feel good is exactly why we're not progressing as a football club and getting on field results.
@fogdog_79@essendonfc But we do need to hit the draft nonetheless as we will have a huge age gap in quality players if we don't go for them before Tassie raids the next few drafts after 2026
@fogdog_79@essendonfc I don't think we need to go down the Norf path and do a full rebuild but we need an elite or a young player showing elite qualities, 2 types of players we need to target are a good crumbing small forward and a big bodied physical inside mid ie)Martin or Petracca types
@superfooty@ClarkyHeraldSun A step in the right direction as a club. Hopefully this means recruiting players who can actually execute basic skills rather than skinny flankers and project players.
@OhAeroHD If he was 5 years younger, sure, but I don't think we're in a position to cough up that much for a player even if it is for one of the elite mids of the comp, we need as much young talent as we can get now before Tassie raids the next 5 drafts.
