It was an honor to bring the History Rocks! tour to New York today, home of the Federalist Papers and the pivotal Battle of Saratoga, to celebrate this state’s great contributions to our nation.
On December 26, 1848, our founders met in Old North Dorm at Miami University to shape our Fraternity, but it was on December 30 that The Bond was finalized and signed by the Immortal Six, setting in motion our brotherhood of Friendship, Sound Learning, and Rectitude.

In May 1921, Fredrick Banting met his research assistant Charles Best in John Macleod's lab to begin their experiments with insulin. In January 1922, the first person received an insulin injection. By 1923, insulin was commercially available. Banting and Macleod received the 1923 medicine prize.

HISTORY
The Flame of Hope is an eternal flame that honors Frederick Banting's discovery of insulin. The Flame will be extinguished when a cure for #diabetes is developed & was 1st kindled by the Queen Mother on 7/7/1989. It was vandalized in 2020 & reignited that year on WDD.
