Farmer at Great Cotmarsh Farm | Knitwear from one flock | Reconnecting fashion and the soil | #Organic#Regenerative | @GroundtoGarment and @HeritageGrazier
Ever wanted to see how we farm for yourself? We have just opened a small, nature-friendly campsite on the farm with tipis and tent pitches, so you can meet the flock that provides the beautiful wool for my knitwear.
Do not feed these industries. They are parasites slowly sucking the life out of and then killing our family farms, our soils, our environments and then keeping all the spoils for themselves. #GoOrganic let's start a shift and starve these parasites to death.
Look at that cracking fleece. Sheโs spent the last 5 months growing a strong, healthy lamb on 100% pasture and still puts out fibre like that ๐๐ช๐ค.
@niels_corfield@FarmersGuardian@piggy_jags We have a lot of barns and if we could capture the water that runs off them it could be used to support activities such as a market garden. Anyone have a link to the gov page about this?
Any thoughts on how much worse the wet weather is going to get in the South of England? We lamb outdoors on wet ground starting in a week. We could do indoors, but it would come at a big financial cost & Iโd be gutted if I made that jump, then a week later the weather improves ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
Episode 2 out now โฆ Leather is controversial in sustainable fashion conversations. The cattle industry gets labelled as one of the big emitters of methane & leather manufacturing uses toxic chemicals that pollute the environment - but this isnโt the only way to produce leather.
I feel very blessed to have this amazing community in my life. Our wonderful South West England Fibreshed is made up of the most inspiring women (and a few men of course!). You can hear about our work in the latest @farmerama_radio podcast. Full details below ๐
The first episode of Farming Fashion is out! This 3-part podcast series explores regenerative fibres and fashion with South West England and South East England Fibreshed. In Part 1, hear from @tamariskfarm_@LoopyEwes and @FernhillFarm1. Tune in: https://t.co/kZFldtYgcY
@EdinvaleFarm@mendipfarmer@PastureForLife@howemill@andyrumming We were hoping it would help us sell our lamb and beef through butchers and wholesale but thatโs not really paid off yet unfortunately โฆ I think our organic certification will mean more to the general public for reassurance on animal and environmental welfare.
@EdinvaleFarm@mendipfarmer@PastureForLife@howemill@andyrumming Yes - agree with above. Thereโs a lot of learning opportunities like farm walks and online seminars (which we struggle to take advantage of unfortunately due to day jobs, kids and family logistics).
We still have turkeys available! find your local turkey farmer and support them, sales dropped off a cliff when the bird flu in turkeys story hit the headlines and I think people rushed out and bought frozen.
