Did you know that the state of Indiana has a $2.4 billion budget shortfall? To address this, several RINO and Democrat lawmakers in Indiana are proposing a dramatic “sin tax” increase.
No, I’m not joking.
Indiana Speaker of the House Todd Huston @tmhuston is pushing a massive 100%-250% cigarette tax hike, backed by a small cabal of RINO Republicans. As a Mike Pence @Mike_Pence ally & co-chair of Pence’s 2024 Indiana Leadership Team, Huston’s plan would make Indiana’s sin taxes higher than those in Illinois, & even California. This regressive tax actually slams MAGA voters, as 67% of tobacco-using Hoosiers earn under $50k per year.
Smokers who use vapes or electronic cigarettes won’t be exempt from the increased tax. The proposal includes increasing tax on electronic cigarettes from the current 15% to 31%, doubling the tax rate.
Why are Republicans trying to piss off their voter base with more taxes?
President Trump beat @KamalaHarris in 2024, 58.6% to her 39.6%.
In 2022, about 840,000 adults in Indiana, or 16.2% of the adult population, reported currently smoking.
We all know cigarettes are bad for you. Lots of things are bad for you. Are we going to put tax hikes on everything we don’t like?
Maybe the GOP lawmakers in Indiana just need to learn how to balance a budget instead of using taxes as a babysitter.
Call Speaker Huston’s office at (317) 232-9677 & urge him to back off this tax hike and to stop supporting the Nanny State.
Republicans truly are their own worst enemy sometimes.

Senator Mark Messmer's office wanted Boonville library to call police on constituents; director said no!
EVANSVILLE – Staff members with Rep. Mark Messmer’s office asked employees at the Boonville Public Library to call the police on constituents during a mobile office hours event – even though the mostly older attendees weren’t breaking any rules, the library’s director confirmed Wednesday.
“We told them that (the constituents) had not broken any of the rules of our library and we would not call the police unless the rules of our library were being broken,” she said. “I didn’t see or witness anything that was hostile.”
The event took place from 1-3 p.m. Tuesday at the library in Boonville. Mobile office hours usually provide voters a chance to speak to representatives of their elected officials and express concerns. Two staffers for the Eighth District Republican were at the library, but they repeatedly declined to meet with more than one constituent at a time, an attendee told the Courier & Press.
Bolton said the request to contact authorities came not from the staffers on hand, but via a phone call to the library from a Washington, D.C. area code. She identified the person she spoke with as Michael Curcio. The website LegiStorm lists Curcio as Messmer’s chief of staff.
A spokesperson for Messmer didn’t respond to a request for a comment Wednesday. It’s just the latest bit of silence from the congressman, who has repeatedly declined to speak to the Courier & Press.
Bickle said the Messmer staffers barred all recording devices and kept the door closed anytime a constituent came inside.
“They had picked the smallest room in the building,” she said. “… They wouldn’t let married couples go in together.”

COLBERT COMMENT: The Indiana State Republican Party continues to enter dangerous territory of running candidates that are disenfranchised from the voters. This rhetor is ripe for a Democrat hostile takeover.
I’m developing a complex with Messmer’s camp refusing to now record public interaction. It’s my video that exposed his hypocrisy and lying on camera. Oh….and now the 8th District Chair, Brenda Goff, is assisting Messmer with his agenda; same woman that censured three elected officials at the bequest of former a VANDERBURGH County Michael Duckworth.
WARNING ⚠️@indgop you are on the trajectory of losing your Superior Majority by refusing to address your glaring shortcomings and archaic leadership style.

My two cents on Massie.
He failed to call out a clearly rigged and stolen 2020 election.
He did nothing over a 4 year period to rectify that failure.
In the grand scheme of things, his exemplary voting record does not negate that massive blind spot. It’s unforgivable given the hell we’ve been through the past 4 years.
He compounded that hell by endorsing a candidate (Ron DeSantis) who was in bed with team Dominion (Libby Locke). If Trump was assassinated, and DeSantis got in, our country’s death spiral would have been sealed.
His messaging on J6 has been mixed at best (fails to acknowledge it was a false flag partially orchestrated by many of his congressional colleagues).
I was a huge supporter of his, Amash, and Rand Paul for years.
But make no mistake, none of the small “l” libertarian darlings lifted a damn finger when a soft coup was committed against Trump.
Like most things, I guarantee you Trump has far more intel on Massie that will find daylight. Everyone was pissed at him regarding exposure of the real DeSantis. Until. They. Weren’t.
Stop getting sucked into a limited hangout.
99.9% of Congress are traitors to the country. Trump happened to be in the way.
I’m team Trump all day.
