guillermo del toro really poured his whole soul into frankenstein and i couldn’t have dreamed of a better adaptation. it’s a beautiful tribute to the woman who inspired him and you can feel how deeply he loved this book. i think mary shelley would have been delighted by what he chose to do with the story she wrote when she was only a teenager
my favourite part of Frankenstein was the creature’s curiosity about the world & his instinct to form bonds with the people around him. he perceived the world without the filter of human judgment. he was gentle, and any violence he committed was a reflection of humanity’s cruelty
