This debate of younger people not understanding or misrepresenting millennial “hipster” culture will keep on happening because much (most?) of the primary sources have been vaporized from the internet. Photo sites, blogs, articles, photo dumps from FB, entire websites from that era are gone.
@MiriVinni My take on all this is just that if dating is not working, you have to switch up your method. If you can't find anyone on dating apps, go to events where u can meet in person. If you've only tried dating your friends and become caught up in the drama, actually join dating apps.
@maryamderp because people don't say 'I don't want to be with you seriously', they say things like, 'I want to take it slow bc I'm still traumatised by my last relationship and it'll take me a while to open up' etc
Going to a GP surgery where there is no AC or even a measly fan for patients but the reception is perfectly air conditioned is peak British heatwave experience
I’m from the UK…. If you can afford it, buy an AC unit.
“But it’s only for 2 weeks in a year”
No it isn’t. It’s from now until the middle of August.
An AC unit costs like £325 from Argos.
Best purchase I ever made in the UK.
@SimoneHCollins I love my partner and don’t regret the choice to move across the country to live with him but my social life and level of cultural enrichment has tanked, trying to find ways to adapt but idk why people otherwise choose this life
@SimoneHCollins Moved out of London 6 months ago, I miss: easy transport, actually good restaurants, gigs, theatre, cinema, museums, decent coffee, shopping, markets and pop up events, parks, games nights, being able to see friends easily and spontaneously
this is a lot of why I am continuously banging the drum that perhaps the casual "dump him" style of misandry is not actually good for us as women. it is often not even our own opinion!
the fact that very few people have trained themselves into the skill of discernment and intentional taste, that few know what moves them, is something one could apply to so many forms of art today & I think a lot of “everything sucks now” whining disguises this fundamental truth
