btw Americans, as a European who now lives in your beautiful country, I have known universal health care as well as your current health care. Guess which one I prefer?
Actually, Voldemort isn’t the most evil Harry Potter character in my eyes. That title belongs to Fenrir Greyback, and honestly, it isn’t even close.
Voldemort was a murderous psychopath obsessed with power, immortality, and blood purity. But Greyback? That man makes my skin crawl on an entirely different level. He was a special kind of depraved, and that’s before we even get into his disturbing obsession with attacking children.
Greyback deliberately targeted Remus Lupin as a child, leaving him with a lifelong condition that would define his entire existence. He even cultivated a reputation for attacking people when the moon was full, relishing the opportunity to spread his curse. He wasn’t interested in building an empire or imposing some grand ideological order. He seemed to genuinely enjoy inflicting suffering.
And Dumbledore himself feared what Greyback might do if he were captured. In Half-Blood Prince, Dumbledore explains that he was afraid the Death Eaters would allow Greyback to torture him, possibly even eat him alive. That’s the sort of monster we’re dealing with.
Then there’s the scene in Deathly Hallows when Greyback attacks Hermione and threatens the other captives at Malfoy Manor. The way he behaves is genuinely disturbing. He’s not just dangerous; he’s predatory in a way that makes every scene he appears in deeply uncomfortable.
Voldemort wanted to conquer the wizarding world. Greyback seemed perfectly content to make individual lives a living nightmare. And somehow, that makes him one of the most viscerally repulsive villains in the entire series.
I can understand why people consider Voldemort the ultimate embodiment of evil. But if we’re talking about the character who makes my stomach turn the most, Fenrir Greyback wins without a contest.
