The End of Evangelion originally had a much longer live-action alternate reality.
It followed live-action versions of Asuka, Misato and Rei, played by their actual voice actresses, living ordinary lives in a world with no NERV, no Evangelions and no Shinji.
Parts were filmed, but Anno ultimately removed most of the sequence from the finished movie.
