A father-of-three who was repeatedly stabbed during a terrifying home invasion has been brought out of an induced coma as he faces a long road to recovery.

Corey Conaty, 46, was asleep with his partner, Tammy, at his Albatross St home in Victoria Point on Brisbane’s bayside when four armed, masked intruders allegedly forced their way inside about 1.30am on Tuesday, August 25.

Conaty suffered life-threatening injuries and underwent an initial 14 hours of surgery as doctors worked to save his life.

He suffered devastating injuries to his arm and fingers, with his thumb almost severed, before undergoing further surgery to repair a large and serious wound to his face and neck.

He then required further surgery to his abdomen.

Following the surgeries, Conaty was placed into an induced coma as he began his recovery. -7 News

BREAKING: A newly arrived Afghanistan National, who is homeless, was arrested by Police in Melbourne for randomly attacking and viciously stabbing two woman in an unprovoked street attack.

Raaz Alizada, 27, was charged after allegedly stabbing two women in separate unprovoked street attacks in Frankston, Victoria.

Last week at around 1:15pm, he allegedly crept up behind and stabbed a 53 year old woman in the neck from behind on Young Street.

She received stitches and treatment at Frankston Hospital for life threatening injuries.

The very next morning around 7:45am, he allegedly ran up behind a 29 year old woman leaving a gym on Playne Street, stabbed her with a 22cm kitchen knife “with a large amount of force,” stole her handbag, and demanded her phone PIN.

She was also hospitalised with life threatening injuries.

He was arrested shortly after the second attack on Ross Smith Avenue East by an off duty officer and tradesmen who helped chase after him.

He was charged with two counts of intentionally causing serious injury, armed robbery, and weapons offences.

He appeared in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on the 20th August, he refused the offer of Legal Aid and a Farsi interpreter, and asked the court to send him “back to Afghanistan.”

Magistrate Simon Zebrowski refused bail, calling him an unacceptable risk to the public.

This is what open borders and failed vetting deliver. Two women stabbed in broad daylight. He wants a free flight home after the fact.
