Matthew 25:31-46 tells us that when Jesus returns, he doesn’t judge the righteous and the unrighteous based on how many people they converted or how they enforced their beliefs.
They are judged based on their compassion towards the hungry, thirsty, sick, and imprisoned.
I hate war, but I love soldiers.
I hate war because I love soldiers.
I want to live in a world where war is a distant memory and soldiers can trade their weapons for plowshares.
Every Memorial Day I think about how much war has stolen from us.
I’m committed to nonviolence, but that doesn’t mean I can’t honor those who have lost their life in war. In fact, my nonviolent commitment leads me to honor and grieve all the more.

@BethMooreLPM I have co-authored a bunch of books, but always with credit. I agree wholeheartedly. There is no shame in collaborating with a writer when that is not your strength. Would I pretend to fix my toilet when I hired a plumber to do it? Heck, no! Why would I pretend to write a book?
@karamellslp Or, even messier ...progressively Christian, for life womb-to-tomb, and now have changed my mind through much thought/study/prayer on my view of traditional marriage. Is there grace for me and mine?
@AndrewTDraper I get it, my brother. In 8 days, all 3 of my kids will live in different states, with my baby leaving for college. Feel your sadness! I am, and it's all part of healing.
@thecw1990 Good grief! So sorry. Well, two things:
1: My pastor friend wore a sleeveless top at a Sunday night service in the summer, and was told her bare arms were "distracting." Puh-leeeeese!
2. These people really need to go sit on a beach in Spain for some perspective!
My biggest regret in 53 years of ministry is that I didn’t do my own personal exegesis sooner on the 4 passages used to restrict women. Shame on me.
I wasted those 4 yrs of Greek in college & seminary. When I finally did my proper “due diligence”, laying aside 50 years of
To understand the current makeup of who attends the annual meeting, you need to know that likely 30% of the convention is now composed of people who are “fighters” by nature. Fighters only feel alive when they are angry & fighting something. That percentage has gone up because those who don’t like to fight stopped coming. They're part of the 3,000,000 former Southern Baptists who've abandoned the SBC since 2015 when the constitution was changed. So the voices of the angry fighters get louder each year. History shows when fighters run out of enemies to demonize, they inevitably turn on themselves. It's already started. Conservatives are fighting each other now.
Imagine if we Christians pursued dismantling systems of poverty, barriers to healthcare, demanded livable wages, paid family leave, affordable childcare, and ruthlessly worked to end violence with the same passion so many of us pursue winning a “culture war.”
@NijayKGupta @ivpacademic I'm so glad you saw the review! Those @ivpacademic folks are on top of things, always. As you can tell, I loved your book and was so inspired by the women I read about. Thank you for teaching me and your other readers about these ancient heroines.
