Think about that.

If this material is appropriate for students to access in a school library, why can’t an adult publicly read what’s inside it?

Dearborn's Democratic mayor is now facing a federal lawsuit after the city spent thousands of taxpayer dollars on public Ramadan displays — banners, crescent moons on streetlights, even police department Ramadan-themed t-shirts — while stonewalling a Christian resident who asked for equal recognition of Easter and Passover.

The suit, filed by journalist Margot Cleveland with the American Freedom Law Center, alleges the city violated her First and Fourteenth Amendment rights, including protections involving religious establishment, free speech, and equal protection. FOIA records show the city spent at least $6,500 on Ramadan displays. Not only did officials ignore Cleveland's requests, they expanded the displays the following year.

Mayor Abdullah Hammoud is also accused of telling a Christian pastor at a City Council meeting: "You are not welcome here" — and that he'd "launch a parade" the day the pastor moved out of the city.

Roy Cooper then appears to say that ACTUALLY he worked "so hard" to keep violent criminals in jail.

In all, Roy Cooper's administration released over 4,000 criminals in 2021.

Over HALF of them have **ALREADY** re-offended...

...among those released were 53 criminals who were serving LIFE SENTENCES and 70+ m*rderers and r*pists.

Attention celebrities: if you wonder why you never knew Dolly Parton’s political views, it’s because she didn’t publicly shout them. She let her craft do the talking.

That one big reason why she was so beloved and will be so deeply missed.

I think what Dolly Parton showed us in the final stretch of her career is how desperately America still needs a common culture. Part of what made her so beloved is that she cheekily dodged every attempt to force her to telegraph the message that her music was for only one sort of people.

I remember when she was on stage with Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin at the 2017 Emmys. They tried to use the moment to bash Trump supporters and signal that they did not want Republicans as fans.

Dolly did what she always did, which was deflect with a joke that made it clear she was not going to take part in that balkanization of entertainment.

Though she did it with a smile and a twinkle in her eye and without ever making a political statement, her quips about her physical appearance when asked about politics spoke volumes.

I will always love her and be grateful to her for that. And there’s a lesson in that it brought Dolly more appreciation from
more fans all across the ideological spectrum not less.

She professed a Christian faith and I pray that she is with the Lord strumming her guitar in his presence today.

In 1988 Dolly Parton pulled every 7th and 8th grader in Sevier County into a room and told them to pick a buddy.

She made them sign a contract.. if BOTH graduate, she hands you both $500. One fails, nobody gets paid.

The county dropout rate went from 35% to 6%.

She handed out the checks herself.

In 1989 she offered $500 to every kid in the county who wanted to go to the local college.

When Gatlinburg burned in 2016, she sent 900 families $1,000 a month for six months.

You've probably heard that part.

Here's the part you haven't:

The fund raised more than expected, so she showed up in May and handed every one of those families another $5,000 on top.

Then she quietly put $3 million into the recovery group that handles the years after the news trucks leave.

She built her county an entire hospital.

She played a benefit concert in 2007, Dollywood and the Stampede matched it, and LeConte Medical Center opened in 2010 with a birthing unit and a women's center in it.

In 2022 she started covering 100% of tuition, books, and fees for Dollywood employees.

Full-time, part-time, AND seasonal.

In 1991 she paid for a bald eagle sanctuary because the birds couldn't be released back into the wild, no press release.

And when Hurricane Helene came through here in Western North Carolina, she wrote a personal check for $1 million and her companies matched it.

She didn't owe North Carolina anything, but she helped us anyway.

She started the Imagination Library because her daddy couldn't read or write. Before he passed, he told her it was the most important thing she ever did.

iPads are not pacifiers.

Your child does not need a screen to distract them every time they’re bored or upset.

Let them be bored. Let them play. Let them interact with the real world. Their developing brains are worth protecting.
