| via Mon Gualvez
God people on FB are so fucking awful. Chad was a lumad teacher. Alyssa a student-leader. They have more compassion, more courage, more dedication in serving the masses than any of these lowlifes ever will. Abhorrent behavior fr.
China’s illegal intrusion into our EEZ plunders resources, destroys coral & kills marine life using cyanide & electrofishing.
Our sovereign waters aren’t dumping grounds; such reckless acts must not be tolerated.
MEET THE NEWLY HATCHED HERO 🦅🪺
The Philippine Eagle Foundation announced on Facebook the arrival of a new Philippine eagle chick — chick 32, now named Bayani, the Filipino word for “hero.”
Bayani is now in its third month and is the offspring of Philippine eagles Dakila and Sinag. The chick was produced through cooperative artificial insemination as part of the foundation’s conservation breeding program.

on this year's international women's day, we should all take the time to remember the names of these schoolgirls who were just trying to live their lives.
Well, when a child is conceived, the DNA split is 50/50 from both parents. Except for one small detail: mitochondrial DNA. It’s passed down only through the mother and never through sperm.
Which means something interesting: all living humans can trace their mitochondrial line back to one woman, not one man.
And every daughter born continues passing that same line forward.
Happy Women’s Day 💐
BREAKING: The people of Tehran woke up to toxic acid rain after the U.S. & Israel bombed oil storage facilities. 10 million people exposed to a serious environmental hazard that causes chemical burns to the skin & damage to the lungs because of war crimes committed by pedophiles.
If the honorable congressman thinks those remarks belong in the halls of Congress, one can only imagine what passes for normal conversation in private, especially when women aren’t in the room.
What followed was even worse: intellectual dishonesty and refusal to engage with criticism. The familiar playbook of strongman politics that seems to be spreading everywhere these days.
‘PATTERNS OF DRUG USE DO NOT EXIST IN A VACUUM’
Paolina Massidda, common legal representative of victims of former president Rodrigo Duterte’s drug war, highlighted the realities of why poor communities are vulnerable to drug use.
“In these communities, structural conditions including the absence of adequate mental health services, limited access to quality education, scarce employment opportunities, and the chronic stress associated with poverty, create an environment in which substance use is more likely to emerge,” she said during the confirmation of charges hearing on Tuesday.

“Tumagilid ang barko namin, tulong!”
A cadet undergoing apprenticeship aboard the now-sunken MV Trisha Kerstin, who remains missing as of this writing, managed to inform his family as the ferry began sinking early Monday.
Cadet Kyle Punsalang, 22, of Davao City, was among more than 300 passengers on board the ferry. He messaged his family to say that the vessel was sinking and pleaded for help.
“Me tagilid among barko. Tabangggg (Tumagilid ang barko namin. Tulong!),” he said in his last message to his family, sent at 12:56 a.m. on January 26.
The cadet’s brother, JP Punsalang, took to social media to seek help in locating Kyle and appeal for intensified search operations to find more survivors.
“Sakay niya po is the M/V Trisha Kerstin na lumubog sa may Baluk-baluk Islands. En route po from Zamboanga to Jolo, Sulu. Part po siya as one of the on-duty cadets at the time of the incident. He contacted us kasi regularly. If hindi po LGU, baka from the Coast Guard or mga taga-doon malapit sa port could help us locate him,” he said. (📸: JP Punsalang/Facebook) | via @HernelTocmo

Grabbed these photos from the FB page of our former city mayor, Jerry Treñas.
This is 16-17 years of planting mangroves along the coastal areas and river banks of Iloilo City.
These mangroves now serve as vital protection against floods, erosion, and pollution.
If you’ve been to Iloilo City, you’ve probably seen these lush mangroves along river esplanades, coastal areas, and Sunset Boulevard.
You'll also see crabs and fishes through the mangroves. And, mind you, malinis ang rivers namin.
As an Ilongga, I am proud of the initiatives of our LGU. It's not perfect, but certainly better than other "overhyped" cities na "the best in the country" daw.
May other cities and provinces in the Philippines replicate this initiative. 🌍
