Just tried my seventh therapist. During the 15 minute consult, I told her I was looking for someone who didn't make the session about themselves. She promised she would never do that.

First session, she's offended when I ask her not to talk about herself. I had to report this.

The truth of the matter is, we therapists need to cater to the client's preferences and we don't need to "relate" or self disclose to clients to help or treat them. If this woman does not want her therapist to self disclose, then that is something the therapist should honor!

@PulOutNWalkAwaY You don't know how therapy works so you should probably stop trying to mansplain it. We do not need to relate to their problems in order to help, them that's why we use evidence based modalities to help treat what ever is distressing them. Leave this to us professionals.
