So it’s basically confirmed now 🥹—Infold is telling us outright that Zayne in this AU is a prince, just as theorized.
The term they use is “ 王爷 ”, which specifically refers to an Imperial Prince—the sons or close male relatives of the emperor. A 王爷 is not just royalty by blood, but someone who has been formally enfeoffed (封王), granted rank, land, and authority, and given his own 王府 (prince’s residence).
This lines up perfectly with the PV detail where Li Shen tells the MC to enter through the main entrance. In historical context, only households of significant rank—royal or high nobility—had large courtyards with a formal main gate. Ordinary civilians, or even minor officials, simply wouldn’t qualify for that kind of architecture.
That also clarifies the distinction people often blur:
—王子 is a general term for a prince—typically an emperor’s son before receiving a formal title.
—王爷 (wáng yé) is a formal honorific, used once the prince holds an official rank, estate, and political standing.
In terms of hierarchy, it looks like this:
皇帝 (Emperor)
→ 王爷 (Imperial Princes)
→ 国公 / 侯 (Duke / Marquis)
→ 伯 / 子 / 男 (Count / Viscount / Baron)
In other words, this places Zayne above 侯府世子 or 国公世子, and firmly within the royal sphere—not just noble, but unmistakably imperial.
Honestly? The clues weren’t subtle. We were just waiting for the title to drop—and when it did, it hit exactly where it was supposed to 🤧
