Taking medicine comes with side effects. If it’s only a mild headache I don’t need the ibu at all, I just have my tea at work. Or lots of water. Or coffee. I rather have lots of coffee. Btw, if you work freelance in Germany you‘ll work even when you got a raging stomach bug. 😆

yes. they do just suffer. one time when we first moved to Germany my husband got a migraine at work and asked a coworker if they had an ibuprofen, which is a very common thing to do in the US if you need a painkiller. he might as well have asked them for heroin. she was appalled. she said “if you feel sick you should go home, lay down, and drink some tea”. he said “but i don’t want to do that. i am working on something.” “we have sick leave, unlike in America.” “yeah that’s great but i don’t want to go home and sit on the couch with a headache!! i want to not have a headache!!” he left work, got ibuprofen from the pharmacy, and went back to finish the day with no headache. it’s just a total culture clash. we fundamentally cannot understand each other here.
