If you look at the average lifespan a long time ago, it will be like 25 or something. But most people didn't die at 25. Most people either lived to 50-60 or died in their first year.

It's a very nuanced field but people seem to think that statistics can always be used no matter what, when there are actually a lot of considerations you have to take into account.
