Start telling boys that hurting their peers isn’t ok

Teach your girls that people who hurt them on purpose are dangerous; that attention is not the same thing as respect, and to dismiss the former without the latter.

I grew up in the 1980s on Galiano Island, within sight of the Kuper Island residential school, where at least 100 children died. It wasn't that people didn't know what had happened. It was worse. Nobody was even curious. Nobody even cared enough to ask.
