"It's very sad to see, because Tony meant a lot to me"
Marcus Semien reacts to Tony Clark resigning as MLBPA executive director, while noting that there was no discussion prior about the news with team reps around MLB:
I firmly believe the #Mets are going to trade Brett Baty, Mark Vientos, and/or David Peterson before the season starts. Despite all of the moves, I still think this roster seems unfinished. This is based on my gut, nothing more.
I say this, not wanting to trade any of these guys, but I can't shake the nagging feeling that there are more moves coming.
@SouthSpeed@SNY_Mets@NateTrosky As a Mets fan, comments like this are exactly why we get what we deserve. The ignorance is unreal, and plenty of Mets fans are guilty of the same thing.
@AllMetsTweets You mean aging players from inherited regimes on bad contracts or with unrealistic contractual expectations that didn’t fit the makeup of the team and vision for what’s coming?
They tried with this group and it didn’t work. You want an overnight fix and are Alonso vs. Semien is apples to oranges. Let the offseason run its course and then critique that. All this noise does nothing but deter players from wanting to be here and make us the continued laughing stock of the league.
@CalmYourMitts This guy has been crying all over Twitter since the trade went down. Couldn’t even get his question out. This isn’t “NY media” but rather a weak reporter and immature hysterics.
The cornerstone of a franchise that missed in 2019, flopped 2020, flamed out in 2021, couldn’t make it out of the WC in 2022, failed in 2023, needed gimmicks to sneak into the playoffs on the last day of the year in 2024 and historically collapsed in 2025. Need I say more?
Pete is a cornerstone of this franchise.
Can’t let him walk.
He should be a Met for life.
David Stearns needs to do whatever it takes to make sure that happens.
