David Umahi has suddenly become desperate for youths who will help him promote President Tinubu's 2027 ambition in the South East, all because he does not want to lose his juicy position.

But when he had the opportunity to produce the Chairman of Ohaozara Local Government, he didn't think of recommending any youth. Instead, he recommended his own 28-year-old son, Osborn Nweze Umahi, for the position.

If you ask Umahi how many South East youths he has empowered since becoming the Minister of Works, he might challenge you to a debate instead of giving you an answer.

Now that he has realized that losing Ebonyi could also mean losing his pathway back to the Ministry of Works, he suddenly wants everyone to queue behind him.

The people currently governing us enjoyed free education in the 1960s and '70s, when government fully subsidized schooling. In our generation, even some public schools now charge fees. So if KCOBA plans to take over the school for 35 years, does that mean fees will stay the same, or will they need to raise fees to recoup and profit from the ₦100 billion they're investing?

If a private association can find 100 billion to fix up a public school, why can't the government do the same with the subsidy money it already collects? Instead of handing school infrastructure over to private hands for decades, government should be reinvesting subsidy funds directly into fixing these schools itself.
