I think our elders didn’t do a good job at modeling how friendship changes from adolescence/young adulthood to 30s and beyond. A lot of us think friendships are supposed to look & feel like they did when we were in high-school & college. & thats just not realistic.
Love after 25 is different. You’re not looking for sparks. You’re looking for stability, kindness and shared goals. You’ve outgrown games and butterflies. You’re craving peace, emotional safety, and someone whose future aligns with yours.
In another reality Joe died of a heart attack before the group was signed to Motown so they didn’t blow up, all the Jackson’s still have their original faces and are in Gary singing down at assembly full of peace bc he wasn’t around to fuck their mental up long term
