@tcanham459 this is a great argument! Youtube is a great tool for consolidating learning. Youtubers like TLMaths and Freesciencelessons cover all the content in great depth and are real teachers (TLMaths notably). taking it away is dumb and stupid and will only worsen the UK’s results
Some tricky conversations this evening about the impending social media ban.
‘I don’t even know who this government guy is’
‘Keir Starmer’
‘Keir Starmer, what does that mean’
Point a lot of people are missing is that YouTube is very important and very good for independent revision… and if I found it works for me, why the hell would I want to swap to anything else?
NEW: Starmer will announce an ‘Australia plus’ teen social media ban on breakfast TV tomorrow
- Expected to include the same 10 apps as Aus: TikTok, YouTube, X, Instagram among them
- Romantic’ chatbots banned
- 16 + 17 yr olds will have a curfew

@dakin19@Jay10_6 Thats a completely different thing, online tools like youtube are used to share content to assist with learning. Ask any teenager whos studying GCSE and theyll tell you that
I wonder what Scotland’s energy usage is like right now. Remember that real famous stat that at half time there’s a big energy surge because a bunch of kettles go on? Would love to see if the same is happening in Scotland
