#LestWeForgeIndia🇮🇳 the #IndianBrave, Commanding Officer 26 RASHTRIYA RIFLES, led his men in an anti-terror Op, took 6 bullets, took down two terrorists & injured 3 before making the supreme sacrifice #OnThisDay 23 December in 2006 at Baramulla, J&K

On 23 December 2006, CO 29 Rashtriya Rifles, Col Sarna led his men in a gunfight against terrorists at Behrampur in Baramulla sector, J&K.

Despite having been shot six times in the stomach, Col Sarna killed two terrorists, ran up to the rooftop, holding his stomach with one hand and gun in the other, he chased and fired at three other terrorists, injuring them.

With utter disregard for his injuries, Col Sarna continued leading his men and giving instructions to search other houses till he collapsed.

Col Gurbir Singh Sarna was awarded the Kirti Chakra posthumously.

Remember his service, valour and supreme sacrifice always.🏵️
