The autistic experience is asking a completely reasonable clarifying question and watching the whole room act like you just said something inappropriate.
@AK_Organizer @poe_collector ok i understand what you're saying but that's not death of the author. death of the author is a principle of literary analysis and doesn't have anything to do with supporting or not supporting an author as a person
@cgarciae88@theo even if we take this at face value, "ai makes recreational programming more fun because you can be done with it faster" alludes to a total misunderstanding of what recreation is
@wagslane seems like there is a huge unrelated problem which is that applicants are required to deal in a lot of volume. this kind of thing seems like a good idea but i would speculate other, unrelated changes will have to take place for it to work

Because of LLMs, the only type of people I’d hire now are what I’d call “super-unicorns”
- Developer
- Designer (or great design taste)
- Product-focused (vs feature-focused)
- Marketer
- Agent expert
- High emotional intelligence
- 5+ years experience creating web app products
- Extreme ownership (h/t @jockowillink)
There are very few folks with all these traits …

This will keep team sizes very small.
2026 is going to be very interesting for the whole industry.

the problem is that we don't "randomly cut everything by 10-35%." when it comes to austerity, the first things on the chopping block are always education, healthcare, and aid to the poor. why don't we first try "randomly" chopping corporate welfare and "see what happens?"
there's lots to say about "cancel culture" and mostly i'm not the person to say it but it does seem like we as a society are addicted to breaking shit by making good people and bad people a binary measurement and then trying to enforce it somehow
i found out that alcohol causes me some pretty gnarly sleep problems and i gotta say. eternally grateful that that happened before i became an alcoholic because i am actually really enjoying not drinking
