Last night, we visited the streets of Kampala to share some food with our people who are homeless. Only those who have slept hungry for lack of food or slept on the street before would understand the pain which these people go through every day. We thought it was important to share with them the first supper of the new year and give them words of encouragement. It is also important to raise their plight, because they end up on the streets for different reasons. Such people must be thought about as we plan and strive to build a nation where all citizens live in dignity.

I have seen some NRM nincompoops reasoning that @HEBobiwine would have delegated the food distribution to the likes of @eddie_mutwe and others, and that his gesture was just for cameras and so populism at play.

Well; when your zombie despot @KagutaMuseveni is inaugurating water taps without water, when he is inaugurating market stalls, when he is watering seedlings in the rain, when he is inaugurating village latrines, and other lowly things, why can’t he delegate village chairpersons of those councils? In Chicago, I got to spend time with grassroots leaders from our @GirlsAlliance Network who are learning from each other and finding new ways to create even more opportunities for girls in this city that we love.

I also had the chance to hear more about the work that folks in our @MBK_Alliance Network are doing to transform the lives of young men and the communities they live in.

Michelle and I are proud of the work these groups are doing, and the difference they’ll make for generations to come.
