Since I was 16 till now, the number of times I have complained about having money issues and people have asked if I donāt have a partner or if there are no men interested in me is crazy. Few people have offered career advice or opportunities. Itās appalling.
As a society, we need to stop pushing this idea that women should rely on romantic or sexual partners for financial support. Introduce women to opportunities instead, teach them financial management and ways to gain financial independence.
Thereās also the issue of using how much men are willing to spend on a woman as a measure of desirability, and assuming that any woman who doesnāt have a man throwing money at her isnāt valuable or beautiful enough. Itās a commodification of personhood that is so disgusting.
I think women will be in a better place when we start admitting how delusional we are about dating and money.
Like on this app people were twisting into pretzels to defend a celeb that was dating a fraud star she knew about and claiming that her dating the fraud star just to depict a ākeptā lifestyle to her clearly gullible audience was not ideal. Thats when I started to realise how deeply delusional and attached to money a lot of us were.
Like in which world is it ok to optimise your dating pool for a man who doesnāt ask what you need money for before giving you? You donāt you ask what people need money for before giving them? Or is the concept of having your own money strange to you? A lot of you want to date fraud men, men who launder money, sell drugs or do yahoo but you also canāt openly admit it because you have positioned yourself as āprogressiveā.
What we donāt see is the amount of things you have to do to yourself and other women constantly in other to date that demographic. The amount of harm they bring to the settings. Now youāre in church going viral for telling your pastor that you broke up with a doctor because he didnāt want to spend money on you like heās a thief. Itās the same way they will do that āheās a 10 but heās a married man or yahoo boyā and the women will all stay. Or marry an already married man for shared resources then start doing content to convince us that they are happy. Iām wary of women like these because they typically never have anything more going for them, they look down on you for having a job or business but can only have things when a man in their life buys it for them. because the pursuit of such men in Nigeria is a full time job. And if you have other interests outside āmanā you wonāt be able to be friends with girls like that.
I find it comforting that our state men have the same parochial reasoning of our parents. The same knee-jerk reaction to suicide, where one will say you're destined for hell if you die by suicide, the other says you're destined for jail if you fail. Punishment before compassion.
What is so funny about suicide that Akpabio is laughing with his fat neck?
So we can rehabilitate bandits and terrorists but people who commit suicide should do jail? What kind of goat brain is this one using to lead our legislative sef?
Just legodu!! Something that should be handled with care. Make rehabilation accessible for these victims. Mehn I hate the ludicrousity of this country!!
@PrincessNwank@Mr_jay_pee Mehn I have wondered a lot of things when it comes to this country. Now I just wait to be bamboozled by what comes out
and 80 percent of the time I am left with my mouth wide open. So yeah, I am always a skeptical mess when comes to a lot of things concerning Nigeria & Nigerians
Hereās the thing, it makes absolutely no sense to complain to a romance channel that you are tired of love stories. I donāt see anyone lining up to complain to Hallmark when nobody is forcing anyone to watch at gun point. There are a plethora of movies to chose from on different platforms my love šš¾š„°
Iām begging you people, please go and watch this Kdrama on Netflix
Take Charge of My Heart on Netflix.
And Netflix, I just want to say a big THANK YOU for dropping all the episodes at once. You donāt know how much we appreciate being able to binge a kdrama without suffering through weekly episodes and cliffhangers. God bless you.
First of all, WHO came up with the idea of a woman who can electrocute people and a man whose artificial heart needs charging? š¤Because this premise is so ridiculous, but somehow, it works
Baek Ho Rang and Na Bo Bae are such an interesting pairing. This man is used to being in control of everything, and then he meets a woman who can literally keep him alive but cannot even hold hands with people without shocking them. The irony is not lost on me. š
What I enjoyed most about this drama is watching these two go from needing each other for practical reasons to actually falling in love.šš
Kim Young Kwang, sir I need to talk about this man because why is he so good at playing a man who thinks he has everything under control until a woman enters his life and scatters his entire existence? šš His characterās transformation was one of my favourite things to watch. And Chae Soo Bin was lovely as Bo Bae.
The romance was cute, the comedy worked for me, and I enjoyed seeing the leads gradually become more comfortable with each other. The drama also has its fair share of corporate family politics, succession battles and people trying to outsmart one another. Personally, I found the romance much more interesting than the fight for the company, and some of the supporting characters could have been explored better. Any Kdrama with Kim Mi kyung you will
Find me there.
Also, can we talk about Ji Eun Ho? š I understand why people are looking at the second male lead because that man is FINE. šš But I liked that his character had more to offer than simply standing around being jealous of the male lead. He had his own place in Bo Baeās life, especially when it came to her dreams.
One thing I appreciated was that Bo Baeās story wasnāt just about getting a man. She had her own insecurities, her writing career and things she needed to figure out about herself. I like it when a romance allows the female lead to have a life and ambitions outside the relationship.
Now, is Take Charge of My Heart the most groundbreaking Kdrama you will ever watch? No. Some of the plot points are predictable, and the corporate storyline could have been stronger. But must every drama reinvent the wheel before we can enjoy it? Sometimes, I just want to watch two attractive people fall in love, give me butterflies and make me smile at my screen.
If you enjoy fantasy romcoms, contract arrangements, a grumpy male lead slowly losing his mind over a woman and a romance that actually develops. This is for you. #Takechargeofmyheart
