Imagine Maurice Kirya and Kenneth Mugabi are holding concerts on the same day,at the same time and you can only attend one.
Whose concert are you choosing? 🎤🔥
In Dr. Besigye's submission, he started by bringing to the attention of court about the circumstances that have affected full disclosure of evidence which was supposed to be reviewed by the accused together with their legal team.
He highlighted that from the time the High Court Registrar wrote to prisons authorities granting the defence team exclusive access to the accused for purposes of preparation for their trial, Dr. Besigye cited that their legal team has faced enormous frustration including denial of entry into Luzira Prisons with gadgets which are supposed to be used in reviewing of audio and video evidence.
On the issue of bail, Besigye noted that his co-accused Captain Dennis Oola has had a bail application before court since last year but it has never been fixed for hearing.
Besigye further stated that the issue of their bail application which was supposed to be the subject of today's court appearance can not proceed until the issue of their legal representation is resolved.
Justice Baguma has set the 8th of July 2026 for a ruling on matters arising on the human rights enforcement application.
Off record, the presiding Judge has addressed court and refuted allegations that he has on numerous occasions run away from court.
He has reminded court of his humanitarian character including when the daughter of hajji Obeid Lutale stormed the bench and almost assaulted him.
Justice Baguma told court that he would have charged Miriam Lutale with contempt of court which he didn't.
He also informed the accused that on a number of occasions he has visited suspects in Luzira prison and that if the accused have certain grievances, they should approach him for common ground instead of resorting to confrontations.
The matter has subsequently been adjourned to July 8, 2026.

Happening now at High Court. @kizzabesigye1 and Co accused have insisted on their right of representation by lawyers of their choice. Without @MarthaKarua , @EriasLukwago and without safety of whole team of lawyers, they will not return to court. Baguma is free to proceed.
In a country with a serious government, these three individuals @AAgather, @SpireJim and @GodwinTOKO would be awarded national honours for opening the lid and blowing the whistle on the grand corruption that was taking place in Parliament. I can't help but remember the kind of vitriol they received from regime apologists for releasing details of shocking transactions of billions landing on personal accounts. At the highest level, they were branded traitors and agents of foreigners.
Today, the same facts they revealed are stated in court documents. Even when the regime continues to harass them for their work, this moment provides all of us a lesson that when you remain consistent at doing the right thing, you'll most certainly be vindicated at the right time.
My dear @SamMugumya,
When you finally returned to Uganda, our hearts overflowed with joy. I even bought a bottle of wine; knowing fully well you do not drink, just so I could toast to your hard-won freedom.
As I clumsily began to pour the wine, you flashed that familiar grin and gently grabbed the bottle from my hands. Right there, you expertly demonstrated how wine is poured. We giggled endlessly looking at you a strict non-drinker, teaching me how to serve wine!
We were celebrating your return home. We were celebrating your survival after eight long years in Congo’s Ndolo military prison, where you looked death in the eye and defeated it.
Never in my worst nightmares did I imagine that just a few weeks after our long night of endless laughter and jokes, darkness would strike again. It has now been 10 agonizing months since you were abducted; never to be traced again.
The laughter from that night still echoes in my ears, refusing to be silenced by your disappearance. Sam, You survived Ndolo, and you will survive this darkness too.
There’s a mighty General in Uganda, a muchwezi who tells us how powerful he is but he has unleashed so much force and power on this elderly woman Miria Matembe. The army that was trained to defend Uganda against enemies went to raid hers and her even more elderly husband’s home and the homes of any friends suspected to be harboring her. The @JudiciaryUG will take her in circles and not release her until he okays that this elderly woman is not a threat to him. #FreeMiriaMatembe
