I rarely complain.
Because that's just kinda not what you do as a Ukrainian.
So, strap up, because this will be a rant inspired by @SoyPill but not really about him as it has been something I and all Ukrainians are dealing with from Western lefties for years now. SoyPill, in his reply to me, basically provided excuses and validity for the unhinged smears and vile language towards me by calling them "valid expression of disagreement" and "well, you called russians orcs and Azov exists, what do you want me to say"...
So, this will be, pun intended, a soy rant.
It is not valid to call me a Nazi.
I have never in my life expressed or even thought anything even adjacent to white supremacy, extreme militaristic nationalism, antisemitism etc.
I was raised to view Nazism, fascism and far right ideologies with utter disgust. Ukrainians are some of the biggest victims of Nazis (after Jews, obviously, but alongside Belarusians and the Polish).
About 5 million Ukrainians civilians died because of Nazis.
Two of my grand grandfathers fought them in the Red Army, one was in a Nazi concentration camp.
Smearing of Ukrainians as Nazis started by Stalin to justify brutal mass murder, deportations and prosecutions of Ukrainians.
Modern Russians still use this smear to justify their invasion, occupation and extermination of my nation today.
"De-nazification" was quite literally their stated reasoning in 2022.
And Russian officials, politicians and generals call us "nation of sewer rats" and our Ukrainian identity "a disease of the mind" and deny our right to exist because we are "cancerous growth that needs to be cut out" and "the genocide is in order" today.
They back it up by action too, of courses, by prohibiting our language, history books, literature and any expression of our culture in occupation.
Meanwhile, we never had a far right get more than whooping 1-2 sits in our parliament (450 sits), which is lower than virtually any other country currently and I have to listen to this dribble from Western people with half the country voting for AfD, Le Pen and electing Donald Trump twice 🙂
We are the least antisemitic country in Eastern and Central Europe by the way, with a Jewish president.
And we are fighting against the biggest fascist force there is today.
So, no.
Screeching "Azov Nazi Banderite ukro Nazi" on sight when I or any Ukrainian person appears on screen is not valid or reasonable.
It's assisting russian propaganda that has smeared is for decades and is justifying slaughtering us.
And it's vile and sadistic when leftie dipshits in the West do it 🙂👍
Just because we do not cry about it and prrsebt ourselves as victims, does not mean it's not hurtful, exhausting and infuriating to deal with.
