Lower Farm Academy

A brand new primary school near Weddington in Nuneaton. We opened our doors in September 2019 and would love to show you what we can offer you and your family.

Our Year 3 and 4 children have had a great time so far this term, taking part in lots of sporting activities in and out of school. Here are some of the photos and videos from these activities. A big thank you to School Games for running and facilitating many of these activities.

This week, Acorn class held a ‘Nursery Singalong and Crafts’ session. The children’s families were invited into school to sing Christmas songs and participate in festive craft activities with their child.

Reception class have had a wonderful term at Forest school. A massive thank you to Anna from the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust. Sessions have included mud painting, bug hunting, toasting marshmallows, animal house building, fairy hunting, Christmas decoration making and camp fires.

We have loved celebrating Halloween today in Acorn class!
We have coloured some wonderful Halloween themed pictures, created spooky spiders and took part in lots of different party games!
Everybody looked amazing in their costumes, thank you for a fun filled day Acorns!

This week in Nursery we have continued our ‘Nature Explorers’ topic by participating in a minibeast hunt on the school field. We were very excited to find a butterfly, worm, spider, fly and bee! What brilliant ‘Nature Explorers’ we are, Acorn class! #growingbrigtherfutures

This week Recepton are comparing a town to the seaside. We went on a walk to look at what we can see and hear in our town Nuneaton. We worked in partners and wrote down our ideas, such as cars, houses, roads and traffic. We decided we definitely couldn't see the beach!

Year 3 had a fantastic afternoon on Friday to celebrate Father's Day. We enjoyed making Forest Crowns in the Yurt, and cooking pancakes on the campfire. It was wonderful to welcome our parents/caregivers and share some of the Forest School activities with them.

Y1 were so excited to have a visit from Om Gurung MBE, a well-known member of the Nepalese and Gurkha community and received his MBE and the Freedom of the Borough in recognition of his outstanding charitable work.
As part of our Geography lessons, we interviewed Om about Nepal.

Today in Acorn class we have started a new story "What the Ladybird Heard".
The children have loved listening and discussing the story and have completed some fun filled activities!

Year 2 thoroughly enjoyed their trip to the Space Centre in Leicester before the holidays.
It was linked to our topic all about Pioneers and one in-particular, Neil Armstrong.

We have had a fabulous week back in Acorn Class!
We have been learning all about the sea and what we can find on the beach and under the sea! The children have loved the story "The Rainbow Fish".
We are so proud of you Acorns!

This week we are starting our new topic "Oh I do like to be beside the seaside". We had a beach day to launch our topic with sand, a rock pool and a paddling pool and wore our summer clothes to school. We had so much fun! #growingbrighterfutures

Reception received a letter from Evil Pea that said he had an evil plan. A few days later we found Supertato frozen in a block of ice! We tried to get him out with a hammer but it was taking too long, so we melted it in the sun. We then wrote our own letter back to Evil Pea!

Acorn class have been reading the story of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' . We have loved taking part in all of the different activities and learning all about how caterpillars change into beautiful butterflies! 🦋

We've been making bug hotels and understanding all about micro habitats and who lives in them. We had lots of fun looking for the best position on the school grounds to put them in and hopefully when we check back, we'll have lots of visitors who love staying in their new homes.

We were very lucky to have a visit from Beth at Severn Trent yesterday, who told us all about how our water is cleaned and how to look after our pipes. We learnt a great song, and we must make sure we remember to only ever flush the 3 P's - Paper, Pee and Poo! #care #respect
