Gave it my all to qualify for the Japan air ticket, but fell just short. Still, proud of the progress of getting 3rd place and the team’s effort.

😢Disappointed with the WGP Malaysia Finale format:🥲

31 players, 7 Swiss rounds, Top 8 cut:
7 rounds: 1 player @ 4-3 makes it, 7.5 miss.
5 rounds: 2 players @ 3-2 make it, and 7.5 still miss.
Why add 2 extra rounds if it just bubbles out more players? 🤔

Worse still, rules and regulations were not communicated until event day. Players were handed double losses during timeouts with no chance to negotiate—even when they were 1 turn away from finishing. Denying players a fair chance to complete their games is harsh and unfair to their scores.

Yes, top players will likely make it regardless, but it’s about more than that. A fair and healthy environment benefits everyone. Organizers, please consult the broader community, not just a select few, when planning events.

A well-structured tournament helps the game grow. Let’s do better. 🙌
