Aging is inevitable. Decline is not.
@stephenwahl@BoredJamesBored@harryjsisson Carney architected the original carbon tax. Now he is replacing it with a stealth carbon tax with the same effect. Call it a sneaky carbon tax on producers that consumers will still have to pay. Very shady.
@harryjsisson Notably the Liberals took a page straight out of the Democrat’s playbook. They kicked out all the viable competing leadership contenders for BS reasons so that they could select instead of elect Mark Carney. Democracy is dead.
Sats is stupid. We should’ve adopted Bits back in 2013. If we had, everyone would easily understand that there are 1 million Bits in one Bitcoin. Today, you could buy a Bit for about 8 cents. This would reduce unit bias and make Bitcoin easier to understand.
The term “bit” already has many meanings in computing: bandwidth, storage, CPU registers, cryptographic key length, hashing algorithms, pixel depth, audio sampling rates, and much more. Each use is clear because context matters. Using Bits as a digital money unit wouldn’t have caused confusion, it would’ve made Bitcoin simpler.
Choosing Sats over Bits was a huge missed opportunity.

It's the same thing when you are stupid”

🧵What is killing Albertans in record numbers, and why is our life expectancy going down?
The government usually publishes an annual report on causes of death, but they didn't for 2023, so I had to do my own research.
This chart (from Statista, based on Statistics Canada data) shows the annual deaths in Alberta from 2000 to 2023.
I added the trend arrows.
Up until 2019-2020 (red arrow) the number of annual deaths increased by about 2% annually. That was in line with an increasing overall population that was also slightly aging.
Then something dramatic started occurring in 2020-2021 (orange arrow). The number of deaths jumped for that year, and every year since. Not only that, but the annual change also increased to about 4%

@baldridgecpa Instead they timed their shutdown strategically to maximized taking renewal revenue from customers for another year and then shutting down without delivering the value customers expected while also keeping the unearned revenue and offering no refunds.
This is unethical behavior
@baldridgecpa Seems like you are apologizing or misdirecting away from the core issue of some seemingly very unethical behavior by Bench. The company knew well in advance that they needed to shut down.
They could have done right by their customers and finished closing the EOY books.
This is one of the greatest speeches I've ever seen any politician deliver.
And Poilievre's right. We're not relying on him because we want to. We're relying on him because he's our last hope for this country.
@krystalball You are a terrible journalist with a deep seated bias against RFK Jr. Your interview with him was a disgrace and made me stop watching your show. You have a closed mind and are not a credible source on this subject. Shame on you!
