BOO! I'm about to say something that could "ruin" my ability to be a guest one day but idc. Influential* Black men in the anime community genuinely need to do so much better. The sacrifice of being a role model for Black people is that you have standards applied to you. 1/6
dear authors, the word ‘enemies’ in enemies to lovers stands for ppl who hate each other. they don’t feel weird attraction at first sight. they don’t secretly smile at another. we are talking about loathing, contempt, the urge to strangle each other PLEASE RESPECT THE DAMN TROPE
the moxxie card is genuinely fucking disgusting and not something to joke about.
the woman who lost her daughter was wrongfully put in prison for three years on suspicion of her baby's murder and her grief was mocked relentlessly. how fucking dare you profit off her pain
whitney can’t even open up about her own insecurities and feelings about her identity without people making it about her white costars, she herself admitted the role felt too big and is used to being reduced to minor side characters but the fandom will take the opportunity to +
it breaks my heart that black women & woc fear rejection in spaces they have every right to exist in & the world keeps proving those fears valid. if they stay quiet racists win, if they take up space they face hate. they just can’t win and it’s so disheartening
and to think that half of the fandom kind of ruined that dream for her and treated her exactly how she knew she was gonna be treated is heartbreaking, to say the least:(
Only managed to make it through three episodes of Helluva Boss. Alongside that S3 clip that’s just Poison from Hazbin again I am reminded of when Pedro Pascal - in a fit of frustration on the set of TLOU 2 - asked Neil Druckmann as sincerely as humanly possible "Do you like art?"
Her concerns about racism were absolutely valid, not insecurities. The racist comments, microaggressions & constant questioning of her talent & importance across social media since her casting was announced only prove exactly why she felt that way.
You also have no right to invalidate a Black woman’s experiences. Especially in an industry where Black actresses have historically faced racial bias & discrimination.
In her interview, Whitney Peak revealed she initially turned down the role of Lenore Dove because it felt overwhelming. She struggled to envision herself as a romantic lead, explaining that Black women are rarely given those opportunities in major films.
thg fans saying the conversation abt whitney + haydove isn’t about race is quite hilarious because we have the same exact thing happening to leah and zendaya in 2 other franchises. just admit that you guys don’t see black girls + women as good enough love interests.
