Hot take: Longtime SSA exec Jeremiah Schofield built a career he loved modernizing systems & climbing the ranks. DOGE shows up in '25 talking aggressive efficiency + immigration enforcement and suddenly his world feels threatened. He retires months later & now drops the dramatic whistleblower filing.
Probably more about "they're here to make my job obsolete" than some grand evil plot. Could be totally wrong, but the timeline & old management clashes make it smell like classic entrenched bureaucrat resistance.
