A very good friend of mine - who is historically a Liberal voter - sent me this today. Sometimes a “joke” hits a little too close to home:

“So I let this guy stay in my house…
He said he’d pay rent, help out, fix the fence, paint the basement, promised me the world.
What actually happened?
He didn’t pay a dime.
He maxed out my credit cards.
Tried to sleep with my wife.
Let 14 people move in without asking.
Gave away my clothes and even the emergency cash I had hidden in the wall.
It took me years to finally get rid of him.
Now, some of my neighbors, who liked the guy, somehow, are pressuring me to let him back in. I said no chance.
So guess what he does? He sends his brother to ask if he can move in instead.
And now I’m arguing with people who are gaslighting me into thinking I’m the crazy one for saying absolutely not.

I find this “joke” telling. How anyone can think that you can replace one “leader” with another “leader”, rip off some others’ policies and then lean in on tax and spend policies and then call it “change” is beyond me.

This is highly personal as I have built my entire life in the Oil & Gas industry.

Brookfield Asset Management, helmed by none other than Mark Carney, is set to acquire the Colonial Pipeline, the largest fuel transportation system in the United States for a staggering $9 billion. This revelation lands as Carney, the anointed darling of the Liberal establishment, smugly declares that his party will not repeal Bill C-69, the infamous "no more pipelines" legislation. Let this sink in: if you cast your vote for the Liberals, you are endorsing a cesspool of economic corruption and rank hypocrisy that threatens to choke the life out of Canada. It’s time for Canadians to rise from their stupor and demand political upheaval. In Europe, the streets would be ablaze with riots, citizens shoulder-to-shoulder in defiance of such blatant malfeasance. Yet here, we languish as doormats, meekly accepting this travesty as business as usual. This is not mere incompetence, it is corruption in its most grotesque form.

And lest you think this is just another faceless corporate deal, consider this. Carney himself stands to pocket a cool $6 million from this acquisition through his so-called "blind trust." Behold your would be leader, tirelessly "working" for your well being while his personal coffers swell. But the rot runs deeper. Brookfield isn’t content with merely dominating Canada’s energy landscape. They hold the controlling stake in Brazil’s NTS pipelines, own 49% of Abu Dhabi’s oil interests in the UAE, possess Canada’s Inter Pipeline, and have sunk $10 billion into Brazilian oil pipeline ventures. This is a company, and a man neck deep in the very industry they claim to stifle at home. If you can stomach voting for Carney, knowing he’ll cling to Bill C-69 while his empire profits from pipelines abroad, you’re not just a hypocrite. you’re an accomplice in Canada’s demolition.

At this critical time, Canadians need and deserve a prime minister and federal government with a clear mandate won from the Canadian people to negotiate with the incoming U.S. President and his administration on one of the most important international negotiations we have ever faced as a country.

One doesn't need to agree with the objectives or tactics of the Freedom Convoy to understand that the Emergencies Act wasn't required to deal with it.

The Trudeau government panicked and used a tool they weren't justified in using.

Not enough people understand the gravity of imposing the Emergencies Act.

It was called the War Measures Act for a long time and for a reason. It was because nobody expected it to be imposed for anything less than a war or something akin to one.

It is a form of martial law as it suspends the basic rights of citizens and gives the government massive powers to do things such as seize bank accounts or force labour from people such as tow-truck drivers.

The act was supposed to be a tool for the government to use as only a very last resort. There were many things the government could have done before using the hammer of the Emergencies Act.

The rights of citizens were ravaged by an inept government that couldn't think beyond using brute force.

We should never forget that overreach and should ensure it never happens again.
