The Joseph Solomon trial scheduled to begin September 8 has been rescheduled.

On September 9, the case is set for a Judge’s Lobby. I was in the courtroom when the September 8 trial date was set, and the judge made clear there would be no further continuances. So this development deserves attention.

The last Judge’s Lobby I attended, the Commonwealth was talking about roughly 4–5 years, and the judge made clear that any plea agreement would involve county jail or state-prison time.

If this case suddenly resolves for substantially less—particularly if serious felony charges disappear—the public deserves a full explanation.

I have been calling for a broader RICO-style investigation into what happened in Methuen for years. I hope my concerns are wrong. But Methuen residents should pay very close attention to what happens next.

And whatever happens criminally does not necessarily end the story. Potential civil claims arising from alleged civil-rights violations are a separate matter and belong to the individual victims.

Methuen, hold on tight. I suspect this one may hurt.

Looks like this part of the story is coming to an end. Plenty of people that should be thanking someone above them, because there are a couple of more people that should be going to jail. I guess the police chief will have to do, since the DA allowed the statue of limitations to run out on most of the criminal stuff. Good job of taking care of your friends DA Tucker. Dam shame no one is running against you.

“In the aftermath of Solomon's tenure as Chief, the City of Methuen and the Methuen Police Department commissioned the STIRM Group to conduct an extensive independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding Sean Fountain's qualifications and purported police academy credentials. That investigation revealed the true breadth and gravity of the conduct at issue, including evidence of false representations concerning Fountain's qualifications, a forged police academy certificate purporting to establish credentials he did not possess, and Solomon's involvement in those actions. The STIRM Group's findings ultimately led the Methuen Police Department to seek the criminal complaints underlying these proceedings.”

After nearly five years, Methuen finally put the truth on the court record.

When Mayor David Beauregard read the City’s joint statement into the record, Methuen formally acknowledged that it hired STIRM Group to conduct an extensive independent investigation into Sean Fountain’s qualifications and purported police-academy credentials.

The City further acknowledged that our investigation exposed the breadth and gravity of the misconduct, including false representations, a forged police-academy certificate, and former Police Chief Joseph Solomon’s involvement—and that STIRM’s findings led the Methuen Police Department to seek the criminal complaints now before the court.

That is not my characterization. It is Methuen’s.
STIRM did the investigation. We conducted the interviews, followed the evidence, and produced the reports. After years of our work being minimized, the City has finally given the company the credit it earned.
This is not a favor. It is an overdue correction of the public record.

Same day he was arrested the final pre-trial hearing was being held in the Salem Superior Court room for the disgraced former MPD Police Chief Joe Solomon, that she refused to investigate or charge 5 times when she was the AG. She has a role why some statue of limitations have gone by. Worst governor ever, and that is really hard to do when we had Dukakis and Jane Swift. She makes Swift look like a a rocket scientist.
