Speaker: Dr. Laura Stabile, University of Pittsburgh

Lung cancer is rising among young adults, yet many are overlooked—even when symptoms are present. No one is too young for lung cancer, and no one should be dismissed. Learn more about the risks in the link: https://t.co/7KYHt5OnH2
At yesterday's opening ceremony, we asked the cancer community to stand together to make their voices heard in support of innovative cancer science and medicine. #CancerResearchSavesLives® #AACR25
A 57% cut to #CDMRP wiped out the Lung Cancer Research Program funding. Patients, service men & women, & families are left behind.
We must restore $25M in 2025 and ask for $60M in 2026. We can’t afford to lose more lives. #CuttingCDMRPIsCostly

Act Now: Urge Congress to Restore Funding for the CDMRP
The March 15 continuing resolution has had devastating consequences for the Department of Defense Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP)—slashing funding by 57%, from $1.5 billion to $650 million. This drastic cut has eliminated funding for several critical cancer research programs, including the Lung Cancer Research Program (LCRP)—a program that has played a key role in advancing life-saving discoveries. Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer death, yet recent progress has brought new hope. Now is the time to invest more, not less, in research that saves lives.
Tell your members of Congress: Restore funding for the CDMRP and LCRP in FY 2025. We cannot afford to lose momentum in the fight against lung cancer and other deadly diseases. Send a message today → https://t.co/kxKSTdCrMR #RestoreCDMRP #lcsm
Honored to receive the Bert and Sally O’Malley Award for Outstanding Medical Student Research! A huge thank you to my mentors Dr. Tim Burns and @lpstabile for their guidance! #NSCLC#cancerresearch#metabolism
Wonderful visit last evening with Dr. Laura Stabile, Associate Professor of Pharmacology & Chemical Biology at the University of Pittsburgh and Member of the Cancer Biology Program at the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. Fellow Libby’s Lungs board member, Stephanie Kaiser and I received an update on her ongoing research into women and lung cancer. Since 2019 Libby’s Lungs has raised over $400,000 to support her research and patient support services at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. Please join us on August 9th at the Grand Hall at The Priory for our Hope in Every Breath fundraiser. Visit https://t.co/XKIXA8pY1l to learn more about her research and register to join us. A special thank you to our growing list of sponsors.
Big news: Senators Capito & Smith + Reps. Boyle & Fitzpatrick reintroduced the Women & Lung Cancer Research & Preventive Services Act! This is a HUGE step. This needs to get passed now! Join us & urge Congress to cosponsor today: https://t.co/7APtDXFYDm

What an incredible and successful event! 👏 Together, we are making strides in the fight against lung cancer! On this #WorldLungCancerDay 🌎 🫁, let’s continue to raise awareness, support those affected, and advocate for increased funding for lung cancer research.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us this past Saturday for our inaugural Libby’s Lungs event as an independent 501(c)(3). We were honored to present the “Libby Do” award to @lpstabile for her outstanding research in women’s lung cancer. For those who knew Elizabeth, you will appreciate the special meaning behind the award’s name.
We aimed to raise $55,000 in celebration of what would have been Elizabeth’s 55th birthday today. Thanks to the amazing support from our sponsors, attendees, and donors, we surpassed that goal by nearly $20,000. These additional funds will play a crucial role in advancing lung cancer research at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and providing patient support services for lung cancer patients in the Pittsburgh region.
Special thanks to members of our board and our volunteers for giving their time, talent and treasure.

What an incredible honor to receive the Libby Do Award at the @Libbys_Lungs Breath of Hope Fundraiser held last night at the beautiful Priory Hotel in Pittsburgh. Grateful to be a part of such a meaningful event for the fight against lung cancer.
Join us at the Libby's Lungs event on 7/27 featuring a silent auction for a superb wine package from Repris Wines! Anyone who attended a party at our home has enjoyed their wines. Elizabeth and I first visited their Moon Mountain vineyard in 2007 and have been members ever since.
The package includes a vertical flight of Jennifer Block Cabernet (2019, 2020, 2021), a private tour and wine tasting for four at Repris, and a private seated tasting for four at the Texture Salon in historic Sonoma Square. Valued at $1,200, this is an opportunity not to be missed!
A very special thanks to our friends @ReprisWines for supporting Libby's Lungs.
