Mayor’s claim that the resignations are part of a transition to a new elected board is insulting. Whether Martinez stays or goes the district faces a catastrophic financial crisis which caving to CTU’s demands will be made far worse.

That loud sucking sound are Chicago taxpayer’s property taxes rising to pay for the CTU’s contract demands and police strength continuing to shrink as the city struggles to balance its own budget while bailing out the schools.
