Scott Pelley just got the shock of his professional life: he discovered that even legendary 60 Minutes correspondents can still get fired for telling the new boss’s boss that she’s murdering the show and needs to be removed.

In his big post-firing interview he admitted he looked at Bari Weiss and thought, “thumb on the scale for the administration,” then when asked if she should go, gave the very serious answer “Oh gosh, yes.” When the interviewer pointed out that openly accusing leadership of wanting to dismantle the institution might carry consequences, Pelley actually said ... with a straight face ... that CBS News used to allow “conversations like that.” The difference now, he explained, is that the people running the place “will not be questioned.”

That’s not dissent. That’s a man who spent so long hearing his own voice treated like scripture that he genuinely believed the normal rules of employment had been suspended in his presence.

The staff was allegedly already recording the confrontation on their phones like they were filming the season finale of their own little rebellion. He reportedly told the incoming executive producer “nobody wants you here.” And then he had the nerve to act surprised when reality showed up with a severance package.

This is what happens when you marinate in Manhattan legacy media long enough. You start thinking anti-Trump zealotry is a job requirement and basic accountability is censorship.

You start believing you’re the voice of God instead of a highly paid employee who still has a boss. Brendan Carr nailed it: these people are completely out of touch because they’ve been untouchable for so long that ordinary workplace consequences now feel like persecution.

Pelley didn’t hit a wall. He hit the same rules the rest of us have always lived under. The only tragedy is how genuinely shocked he was to discover they still exist.

There are 52 US House seats in California.
