Pi is the native cryptocurrency of the Pi Network ecosystem, supporting ecosystem participation and utility across the network. Stablecoins are cryptocurrencies designed to maintain a relatively stable value, typically by being pegged to an asset such as the U.S. dollar, and they may serve an important but narrower purpose where stable prices are particularly useful.

Pi Network Is on the Open USD Partners List. Why Does That Matter?
Open USD ($OUSD) is a dollar coin controlled by Open Standard (@openstandard).
Open Standard is an independent corporation with a large network of partners, including banks, payments companies, tech firms, and crypto companies.
Pi Network (@PiCoreTeam) is now listed on this official partners page.
Being listed doesn’t mean that a product is launched. It means the project becomes part of the larger dialogue about dollar rail collaboration.
(1) Recognition alongside familiar names
The directory comprises payment providers, banks, asset managers, and cryptocurrency companies.
Being listed among them makes $Pi part of discussions usually reserved for organizations already transmitting payments in large volumes.
(2) A unified USD standard
Open USD has been developed to let enterprises mint and exchange their shares without charges or volume limits, while most earnings are reinvested to partners, with only an operating cost taken out.
For the network focused on ordinary people, such a structure could, in theory, provide settlement options without relying solely on an unstable native currency.
(3) Decentralized governance
The Open Standard project is organized so participating companies take part in both economic and governance processes, rather than leaving all control to one issuer.
(4) What the listing does not establish
The listing does not prove that Open USD is active on Pi, that one can now spend the currency inside the app, or that Pi’s developers have announced a final commercial deal.
(5) Why people are paying attention
For communities, it is an opportunity to realize payment functionality and international commerce.
For observers, it is a case study in whether large user bases can integrate themselves into institutional stablecoin plumbing.
Partner listings are an initial step in the process.
Pi Network is partnering with @openstandard, the company powering Open USD (OUSD), a partner-governed stablecoin designed as open infrastructure!
Open Standard brings together more than 200+ partners across payments, finance, technology, and crypto, including Visa, Google, and Stripe.
OUSD is designed with an incentive model focused on supporting ecosystem growth, and Pi will explore rewards programs for Pioneers and broader utility across the Pi ecosystem.
Look forward to more details about this partnership.
Pi Network signs on with Open Standard
Pi Network (@PiCoreTeam) has partnered with Open Standard (@openstandard), the company behind the Open USD (OUSD) stablecoin. Pi says it will explore rewards programs for its users, known as Pioneers, and wider use of OUSD across its ecosystem.
OUSD went live today on Base, Ethereum, Solana and Tempo. It's issued by Stripe-owned Bridge, with reserves held at BlackRock, Lead Bank, and BNY. Open Standard now counts over 200 partners, who earn rewards based on the OUSD activity they bring in.
Pi Network completes last step towards Protocol v27 Launch
Pi Network (@PiCoreTeam) is moving to Protocol V27 on its Testnet 2 environment as it works toward a mainnet launch.
The new protocol has stabilized at 250 transactions per block with no recorded failures, showing it can handle higher traffic.
This is the final technical step before the Pi Network team switches to the live environment.
Pi Network Initiates V27 Protocol Upgrade to Support Decentralization
The Pi Core Team (@PiCoreTeam) has initiated the Protocol V27 upgrade, starting with a Testnet 2 implementation and planning to transition to Mainnet by the end of the week.
Among other things, this protocol transition upgrades Pi Node Docker to V27.1.0 and aims to ensure the stability of the network's infrastructure and prepare for future developments such as integration with Pi Dex.
This protocol transition represents a major step toward decentralizing the network.
Pi Network could launch its own stablecoin?
GCV ambassador Dimas (@2000Rocker), mentioned that PiPay is an evolving global payment system meant to accommodate a Pi stablecoin.
PiPay aims to serve as a global payment platform and has been in the works by Mr. Kosasih (@Kosasihg88G).
According to Dimas, Kosasih has been responsible for previous programming efforts, including OnRamp Pi and Pi Oracle.
However, official Pi Network (@PiCoreTeam) developments revolve around Open Network utility, merchant payments, and the Protocol 27 launch in September 2026 that brings smart contracts and decentralized exchange.
Services by third parties, such as OpenPay, can facilitate conversion of PI into stablecoins like OUSD for payments and QR payments.
However, the Pi Core Team has never recognized the existence of any stablecoin. Any stablecoin would require the support of the Core Team, regulation, and actual demand for it.
Nevertheless, community developments in coding and payments suggest sustained interest in the idea of Pi becoming more functional.
History rhymes: “…my commitment is that we are not going to launch the Libra payment system, here or anywhere else around the world, until we get the approval from FSOC and the other relevant U.S. financial regulators.”
