@TMaqueovelic@JosephN1999@sunblister16@Zhane_Star Gente is singular even though it sounds singular you can use la gentes which is fine but it's more a writing thing and not spoken. It's classified as a collective which is singular. Here take a look https://t.co/8dIHpxDrRQ
@TMaqueovelic@JosephN1999@sunblister16@Zhane_Star If we could make a grammatically correct term, I would be okay with that, and probably many others would too, but it still probably won't be used since people prefer to use the gendered terms since that just feels more natural to Spanish speakers.
@TMaqueovelic@JosephN1999@sunblister16@Zhane_Star Ok so my stance has changed a bit, there should be gender neutral terms, I didn't realize I disliked latinx and latine because that was just incorrect grammatically. Also, Gentes is an official word because it is correct.
@TMaqueovelic@JosephN1999@sunblister16@Zhane_Star Also many Spanish speakers are outright said they won't use that term because it's just not right not morally but grammatical they arent correct in Spanish
@TMaqueovelic@JosephN1999@sunblister16@Zhane_Star Ok yeah changes are good and it is Necessary in some places. Me personally I don't feel it's necessary or right to add gender neutral terms to a gendered language. We would have to restructure most of spanish to fit around gender neutrality and do the same for other languages
@TMaqueovelic@JosephN1999@sunblister16@Zhane_Star Personally I just think you shouldn't try to add gender neutral term to a gendered language. It just doesn't feel right, I support y'all but it's not your place to change someone else's language.
