In this post, I discuss why Nov 7 could be worthy alternative date for Victims of Communism Day instead of original idea of May 1. If a consensus develops around Nov 7, I would be happy to support it. https://t.co/YOVRjArLi6
@OnyxBoox Just received the Note Air and love it so far but how do I save websites so that I can open them in Neo Reader to highlight/annotate? I noticed that PushRead doesn't allow for this, and there isn't a way to save a website in Neo Browser (or is there?).
@KlittEartha@georgeorrwhite @Oahu_Raider808 @ikaikahussey@EastOahu96825@HawaiiDOH Sorry don't quite follow but that's probably cus we're on Twitter (dunno about u but it happens a lot to me). You're saying get other avoidable risks but they're less likely to occur for kids, right? Or that the other risks are less easily avoided compared to shutting elem?
@KlittEartha@georgeorrwhite @Oahu_Raider808 @ikaikahussey@EastOahu96825@HawaiiDOH Yeah, when I've asked other healthcare workers they've generally had the same response of 0% risk probability.
Mind if I ask what other risks you consider avoidable for kids <12?
I’d rather live next door to someone who crossed the oceans with a child to escape death and violence than a citizen who wouldn’t cross the street to help a foreigner.
@KlittEartha@georgeorrwhite @Oahu_Raider808 @ikaikahussey@EastOahu96825@HawaiiDOH Wow they don't share anything with parents huh. That's insane.
Mind if I ask the same questions: how old are your kids and what probability of severe illness would be acceptable to you for schooling them? I'm including long covid in "severe illness" if it helps.
@PhilipGarboden Shout it from the rooftops. But I disagree with your second tweet re: low-income folk not benefiting from market-rate development. Ladder effect allows them to benefit, essentially a positive externality.
@EastOahu96825@ikaikahussey @Oahu_Raider808 Lol thanks! I laugh cus I've found Thaler (and Sunstein's) work to be informative in my curiosity also. I'm skeptical of the conclusions behavioral economists draw from their studies, but the potential insight into layperson views of risk/stats/probabilities is fascinating!
@EastOahu96825 @Oahu_Raider808 @ikaikahussey Glad yours are vaccinated at least! So what do you think is their risk probabilities with the vaccine of being severely I'll? The article didn't mention those odds.
@ikaikahussey @Oahu_Raider808 @EastOahu96825 Mahalos. So same question as @georgeorrwhite, what probability of severe illness would you be ok with? I'm probly unusual but I'd accept 5-10% chance of severe illness for my kids so this pandemic makes me curious about other perspectives.
@georgeorrwhite @Oahu_Raider808 @ikaikahussey@EastOahu96825@HawaiiDOH Ok that's just adorable lol.
That said, I have to ask for this thread, what's the max probability of severe illness that's acceptable for you to be ok with sending them without fear? Well, without additional fear-I have a 3 and 5 yr old and always get some fear right?
