I stopped by the new Reflecting Pool. It is simply glorious. There were a thousand people, everywhere, taking pictures and just enjoying its beauty. Thank you President Trump for restoring our city’s national treasure.

@MayorFrey Astounding ignorance on your part, Mayor, to compare that drugged out felon with those that gave the ultimate sacrifice to our nation.
You obviously need to LEAR what Memorial Day truly represents.
Do better.

This statue is of an EOD tech wearing a bomb suit holding a folded flag for the fallen. It stands in the EOD Memorial Gardens, Eglin AFB, FL. The bomb suit and the robot came towards the end of my career, and I never had any experience with either. Technology is making the EOD tech's job safer, but EOD is one of the most dangerous jobs in the military in time of war and in time of peace.
We have a joke in EOD that we are glorified garbage collectors. In truth, we are First Responders. We rid the world of hazardous munitions and explosives. Not every incident is dramatic. Most aren’t. We pick up the ordnance, transport it safely, and destroy it properly. We do this hundreds of times. There is a chance that one time something goes wrong, and we don’t get to do it hundreds of times anymore.
The photo is of the EOD Memorial at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.
