Chapter 10 Q3: I question what would happen in schools if the three Sβs were implemented. What changes would we see? Hopefully positives ones. @aswarriner@SCSC1985#scscchat
Chapter 10 Q2: I wonder how much more learning will take place once technology is used as a support instead of a replacement to teaching. @aswarriner@SCSC1985#scscchat
Chapter 10 Q1: I like the suggestion in making things simpler for teaching and learning. Sometimes using technology can complicate the lesson so simplifying it can produce greater learning. @aswarriner@SCSC1985#scscchat
Chapter 9 Q3: I question why digital books are deemed better than regular books. To me there is just something about reading out of a paper book in my hands. I prefer it that way to digital reading. @aswarriner@SCSC1985#scscchat
Chapter 9 Q2: I wonder about this huge push by edutech companies for everything to go digital. I have firsthand experience with digital textbooks and I would choose a paper version over that every time. Tech can be unpredictable at times. @aswarriner@SCSC1985#scscchat
Chapter 9 Q1: This chapter confirmed to me that some ed-techs are only in the money making business and not what is best for kids. School need to be aware of this. Some tech is good, but too much is bad. @aswarriner@SCSC1985#scscchat
Chapter 8 Q3: I question that boys spend more time gaming and girls tend to be on social media and texting. I think there has been a rise in females becoming gamers and vice versa. @aswarriner@SCSC1985#scscchat
Chapter 8 Q2: I wonder what is behind the fascination of watching other people play video games on YouTube. My niece and nephew do that and Iβm not sure I understand it. @aswarriner@SCSC1985#scscchat
Chapter 8 Q1: This chapter confirmed to me just how serious gaming addictions are for students. Iβve seen countless studentsβ grades decline bc they spend all night gaming. @aswarriner@SCSC1985#scscchat
Chapter 7 Q2: I question just how much students problem solving skills have been compromised because of overuse of screen time. Is that number quite large or average? @aswarriner@SCSC1985#scscchat
Chapter 7 Q2: I wonder how much more successful students would become if they put down their devices and formed relationships with their teachers and peers. @aswarriner@SCSC1985#scscchat
Chapter 7 Q1: This confirmed what I was already seeing with students. They clutch their phones in anxious situations and use it as a security blanket. They are lost without their devices @aswarriner@SCSC1985#scscchat
Chapter 6 Q3: I question teens being on their phone 9 hours a day. I feel like it is probably more in my opinion. They are truly addicted to their phones and just have them within reach at all times. @aswarriner@SCSC1985#scscchat
Chapter 6 Q2: I wonder/am hoping that setting limits now for my own children (age 2 and 4 months) will help them become more independent, social individuals. Hoping to have set unplugged time with my family. @aswarriner@SCSC1985#scscchat
Chapter 6 Q1: This chapter reenforced that it starts at home with the parents. Setting time limits on screens and not texting their children at school. Children need to learn to solve problems in their own. @aswarriner@SCSC1985#scscchat
Chapter 5 Q3: I question how greatly impacted children would be if they were made to unplug by their parents. Getting that face to face interaction is so much better when establishing connections with students @aswarriner@SCSC1985#scscchat
Chapter 5 Q2: I wonder how studies would change if students found a more healthy balance between face-to-face interaction and technology. I think overall mental health would improve. @aswarriner@SCSC1985#scscchat
This goes to show that excessively using technology, like we did/had to during the pandemic, has a direct negative effect on our students mental health.
Chapter 5 Q1: As a counselor, this chapter really stuck with me in regards to mental health. I have seen an increase in mental health issues over the past few years. Especially after the pandemic. My caseload tripled after that. @aswarriner@SCSC1985#scscchat
