A Black man created ranch dressing — and most people never knew.
Kenneth “Steve” Henson, born in Nebraska in 1918, was a plumber who cooked for his crew in Alaska. One day he mixed buttermilk, mayo, herbs, and spices… and ranch was born.
In 1954, he and his wife bought land near Santa Barbara and named it Hidden Valley Ranch. Guests loved the dressing so much they begged to take jars home. By 1957, stores were selling his dry mix. Orders exploded. Factories followed.
In 1972, Clorox bought the recipe and the name for eight million dollars. Ranch went nationwide. By 1992, it was America’s #1 dressing.
But the man behind it? Nearly erased.
Every salad, every wing, every fry dipped in ranch — that’s his legacy. He mattered. He was the blueprint.

A 1-year-old in Mississippi was shot and killed by police after a cop opened fire on a vehicle involved in an alleged shoplifting incident at a Walmart. An adult was also critically wounded.
A witness says they saw 2 women leaving the store with an infant, Kohen Kartier Wiley, and a box of diapers. Relatives deny that Wiley's mother and aunt were shoplifting, with some saying they had a digital receipt on a phone.
This is a national tragedy.
The officers knew about Kohen Kartier Wiley being in the car before they opened fire.
Firing into a moving vehicle in a crowded parking lot over a non-violent offense is both criminally reckless and completely unjustified.
RIP Kohen Kartier Wiley

"I went to the courthouse. I went to the school board. They were over everything, all the schools and plantations, what the school was on, they were over everything," he said.
"What does a birth certificate mean for me? I couldn't even pronounce what it would mean."

Insane to think that all through the 90s we were told we absolutely had to let the Klan march in American cities to protect free speech and now they're withholding diplomas, firing people, imposing travel bans, qmd running weekslong smear campaigns for saying the word genocide.
The more you study African history, the more you realize that the story is not just one of oppression it's also a story of kingdoms, scholars, traders, inventors, warriors, resistance, and survival.
