Benedict Cumberbatch reveals his father told him he was a better actor than he ever was after seeing him perform at university.
"Benedict Cumberbatch: My dad worked non-stop, partly to pay for a ludicrously expensive education. That was purely to make me see sense and become a doctor, a lawyer, a teacher, just something of use to society. Continually disappointing them by continuing to be an actor."
"Claire Foy: A really, really, really good one, though. So, that's good, isn't it, though?"
"Benedict Cumberbatch: One of my key motivations is to keep them happy and proud. My dad said such a huge thing. He saw me at university, and I was playing Salieri in Amadeus. It was in the car park afterwards, and he said, 'You're better at this than I ever was or ever will be. I can't wait to watch you and support you in what I think is going to be a fantastic career.'"
