And fair enough students chose not to do it for their leaving cert as their interests lie elsewhere but irish students shouldn’t have their history education stop at 12 with fkn history quest being the only book they’ve studied from

I think one of the biggest disservices Ireland has done to its youth is making history an optional subject in secondary school following the introduction of the junior cycle. History must be learnt in order to move into a better future and to teach empathy & understanding.

I know I’m a bit of history nerd so could be just me but thinking of whole year groups from schools were history is now optional having little knowledge of why the world is the way it is is honestly sad and a little bit scary

I’m disappointed that the work I put in won’t see any result & while everyone is making valid points please just let those of us who are disappointed be disappointed. Why can only one sentiment towards the decision exist? Just let people feel what they feel
