@witherornot1337 I added many necessary fixes, including the meaning of the backup and I highlighted my opinion more from the stance of translation and programming groups involved in this, thanks!
I wrote a blog post discussing some weird details surrounding Touhou Koumakyou: New Classic.
Do you want to learn the truth behind the translators and the source code of the new game? Is ZUN following the law?
Please check it out!

The very first thing I said in chats after new EoSD was announced is that I was 80% sure it was just a fork of the GensokyoClub decomp, because it's the most economically sound decision. Nobody believed me.
Sometimes intuition just works, y'know.
@aggressive2hu With built-in translations into 10 languages taken from Touhou Patch Center.
Let's hope they properly credit them and don't violate the CC-BY-SA 4.0 license on the translations, and then it would be the first main series release actually worth paying for.

@Nmlgc@aggressive2hu I am certain the game will sell big.
I got confirmation from Paradise of Boundaries that the translation work was doujin in nature.
It would be nice if they paid their translators as extra recognition for the hard work. This is normalizing labor without profit.
It's surreal to see mainline touhou on console + offical steam translations after 24 years, and honestly, these redrawn sprites look incredible. I feel like this will really be a watershed moment for the series as a whole, especially in the west.
