Pokemon: Only in Japan

A year before iPhones, in 2006 Square Enix released Pokémate, the first major Pokemon cell phone game. You caught Pokémon & kept them in your room, but you couldn't battle them -- this was more a virtual pet experience. Sadly, Pokémate was Japan-exclusive.

Hi everyone, sorry for lack of updates regarding Pokemate! The phone is quite difficult to work with, in terms of basic file transfer features, so I'm currently speaking with preservation specialists who are experienced with this stuff. More updates as I get them, I promise!

It's been a bit of a struggle getting the phone to turn back on after it died on me a couple months back but it's charging. PokeMate, Pokemon's first ever mobile app, should hopefully be dumped soon. #Pokemon #Nintendo #videogames
