The Glazers put in £272m and have taken over £1 billion out of Manchester United.
Glazers bought Manchester United in 2005 for £812m but paid only £272m (33.5%) of the money and loaded £540m (66.5%) as debt onto the club.
United had just £50m debt, but it rose to £604m after the takeover. By 2025, approximately £1.187 billion had left the club between 2005 and 2024 through debt interest (£815m), external debt repayments (£197m), shareholder dividends (£166m) and management fees (£10m).
The Glazers have taken £166m in dividends since the takeover. No club can have £1.187 billion extracted from it and still compete at the top.

At 5:04pm on October 17, 1989, the Loma Prieta earthquake hit the Central Coast and Bay Area, causing widespread damage that killed 63 people and injured 3,757.
We remember the lives lost. We can honor the memory of that day by taking a step to prepare: secure a heavy item, refresh your supplies, and talk to your people about what you’ll do without cell service, water, or power.

Saturday will be one of the hottest days of the year for the entire Bay Area. Downtown San Francisco is forecast to reach 94°F in the afternoon, while Ocean Beach, just over 6 miles to the west, is expected to be in the low 60s.
The Outer Sunset and Outer Richmond could briefly climb into the 80s around noon before the sea breeze kicks in during the afternoon.
Welcome to Indian Summer.
I’ve had a bit of fun regarding Man City in the last week… reclaiming medals etc but it’s important we look at our own club and what needs to happen. I’ve just released a pod on Man Utd finances with my guy @MrStephenHowson & the brilliant @lauriewhitwell from @TheAthleticFC… close to £700m revenue but still losing £40m! It needs to be discussed! 🤯
How do we finance a new stadium with the debt that’s been put on the club?
How do we compete again with wages and transfers?
2028 ambitions set out by the club - are they realistic?
Why didn’t we have funds to sign LB & CF?

"There's a pride of representing the Bay, representing this franchise. When I set foot here in '09, and what we've all been able to accomplish... I wanna do right by that."
@StephenCurry30 on what it's meant to play in front of Warriors fans for 17 years, and moving forward 💯
For over half a season Carrick coached this team to pick up more points and score more goals than every other team in the league. He didn’t just forget how to coach or suddenly become shit at it. We were 2-0 up and flying before those morons gave away the goals.

MLS thought they were ripping off David Beckham. That mistake is now worth $475 million.
In 2007, Toronto had just paid $10 million for an expansion franchise. Beckham's contract gave him the right to buy one for $25 million, 2.5x the going rate. The league believed it was selling him an overpriced option. He believed he was buying a call option on American soccer. Both sides thought they won the negotiation.
MLS made two drafting mistakes. The option had no expiration date. And the price was fixed, with no adjustment for league growth. Beckham could wait as long as he wanted while expansion fees climbed, then exercise at 2007 prices.
So he waited 7 years. By 2014, expansion fees had reached $70 million. He exercised at $25 million and picked Miami. Somewhere in between, MLS called and offered $50 million to buy the clause back. That phone call was the league admitting it had mispriced its own product.
Then the market finished the job. St. Louis paid roughly $200 million to enter in 2023. San Diego's owners paid $500 million. That's half a billion dollars for the exact asset Beckham's contract priced at $25 million.
The best trade of Beckham's life happened before he played a single MLS game. It was buried in a player contract, and the counterparty drafted it.
